Abstract

The purpose of this project is to help minimize risk to art objects during international transport by encouraging art museum registrars to have a more participatory role in the shipping and customs processes associated with international loans. In order to accomplish this, I have developed a guide that will help registrars in art museums in the United States better understand the complicated process of shipping art objects internationally. The guide will provide a reference to current U.S. Customs regulations, documents and procedures necessary for importing and exporting cultural objects for museums.
