Abstract

Health in America is commonly viewed in terms of biometric measurements, but employees need more than just improving their blood pressure or lowering their weight to become engaged and energetic about improving their health. They need additional educational and support tools to be able to approach healthy behavior changes on their own terms and comfort levels. The New Leaf Whole Health Community mobile application provides health education, individualized information on personal health, and helps build the workplace community by connecting employees to their employee wellness program through a virtual platform. The purpose of New Leaf is to address each individual as an individual, with the goal of supporting personal growth. People need to first care for the self in order to truly make a difference in the world around them, whether that difference is at home, work or community. People want their information to be mobile and convenient. Providing employees with a mobile app where they are able to input their daily health behaviors can provide the self-insight they need to decide which areas they would like to focus on in order to achieve their personal health goals.
