Abstract
The purpose of this master's project is to promote safety among museum staff and visitors by alerting museums to the potential health hazard posed by radioactive objects. This project identifies items that may require special handling for their care, maintenance, and exhibition and may also present a danger to other museum artifacts.
The product for this master's project fills the need for a basic reference work on radioactive museum artifacts. The booklet is intended to help museums examine their collections by naming object categories that may be radioactive, briefly discussing health and safety issues, describing management strategies, and suggesting sources for further technical assistance.
