Abstract
In what follows, I present my research in three chapters. The first chapter is a literature review that outlines the historical and contemporary context of the nonprofit arts model and discusses the various strands of scholarship on entrepreneurship. This chapter presents my working definition of entrepreneurship and describes the characteristics of the entrepreneurial organization. In chapter two, I present the results of the nine interviews I conducted. Finally, I outline the three strategic practices nonprofit leaders need to implement to support their entrepreneurial vision: risk-rewarding and purpose-driven incentive systems, practices that connect the organization with new sources of knowledge, and sector appropriate metrics of evaluation.
