This catalog on Carl Andre documents with photographs the sculptural works in the Sacred Heart School's exhibit, each work accompanied by an interpretive essay. The Seven Books of Poetry are represented by one copied page from each book, and, again, each page is matched with an interpretive essay. The following discussion that focuses on the biography and work of Carl Andre presents the artist's life as the source of his creative work. There is no attempt here to justify Carl Andre in art historical terms or to classify him within an established school, but rather to bring to light an understanding of his work as a personal expression that has grown out of his life.
