Abstract
The descriptive phenomenological theory founded by Giorgi is used in the study of experiences of being Japanese for Japanese American senior widows in America. The interviews were conducted half an hour to one hour long in Japanese with five Japanese and Japanese American senior widows in San Francisco who are over sixty-five years old. The researcher selected the two most fit to expand on in this study. The original data of interviews is analyzed based on descriptive phenomenological theory. Themes were found from both participants and commonalities among them were discovered and analyzed.
