Abstract

The purpose of this master's project was to explore how indexed audio stories, or radio dramas, produced with dynamic production elements (actors, dynamic sound effects, and historic recordings), can function as powerful and effective interpretive tools. The project consists of a dramatized audio tour of San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park's nineteenth-century lumber schooner, the C.A. Thayer. This audio tour was structured as a story, and dramatized the life of a salmon fisher on board the C.A. Thayer during its voyage to Alaska in 1922.
