Abstract

The purpose of this project is to inform children ages six to ten about the role of the registrar in an art museum. Familiarizing children with the registrar's responsibilities will help teach the importance of caring for and conserving objects in museums, and in everyday life. Exposing children to a previously little known profession will expand their horizons and offer them more choices for their future. Informing children about museums at an early age will serve to make museums increasingly accessible institutions of informal learning. The purpose of this project will be accomplished through an illustrated children's book that highlights some of the most important and interesting aspects of the art museum registrar's job.
