Abstract
This study is designed to better understand the relationship between physical appearance, confidence and competence in Division 1 female collegiate gymnasts. The following self reported responses are found through in-depth interviews with 7 college gymnasts, who participated on the same team for the 93-94 season. Ideas for future research or inquiry in this area include: in-depth research on body image with eating disorders and cultural influences for collegiate gymnasts. These areas did not fit into this study due to time and focus.
