Abstract
This project focused on how museum educators in art and history museums attempting to develop and/or expand programming or collaborations with public middle and high schools can work with classroom teachers to create programs and services which successfully meet the needs of adolescent students. The purpose of the project was to examine the past and current state of school-museum relations and to create a report targeted to museum educators consisting of recommendations for improving collaborative programming for secondary level social sciences teachers. This project furthers museums' educational mandate of serving teachers and their students better, and encourages teachers to use museums as meaningful teaching resources.
