Abstract
Previous research indicates that there is a relationship between trauma and development of chronc pain. Using the process of autoethnography, where the researcher is using their own experiences as the research material, this relationship will be explored and compared with current literature on the subject. Reviewing my experiences of both trauma and chronic pain it would appear that there is a relationship between the two. This, in turn would suggest that therapists and mental health workers who are interacting with people living with chronic pain should be open to the possibility that past traumas could be contributing to the symptoms of pain and dis-ease among their clients.
