Abstract
This essay, an overview of a mixed-media installation by the artist, examines the dynamics of desire and reality in many different contexts, including philosophy, art, culture, and religion, and the games that dynamic creates, from our
romantic yearning for the ultimate reality--the presence of the sublime, the divine--to our nostalgia for the remembered past, for childhood. The artist evokes a personal and collective past and present through the medium of the game and the game board, and tae interweaving of text which both conceals and reveals reality.
