Abstract
Quality Audits represent one of the quality assurance techniques used in project management to improve the quality of the project’s outcomes. Training is provided after the audits are completed in order to improve the quality of the project’s outcome and to avoid repeating the errors identified previously in the audit process. Therefore, conducting the training shortly after the audits is a key factor for these periodic audits. The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive and qualitative overview of ResCare Incorporation opportunities with regard to quality assurance. The improvement of this process will be reflected in the quality of the social services provided to thousands of low income families who are aided by San Diego County’s Welfare-to- Work (WTW) program under the California Work and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program. This research used both qualitative and quantitative approaches to combine the results from two surveys and site interviews that were conducted.
A research analysis was performed to identify how the company could address the lack of time management and how to implement a risk management framework in the Quality Assurance (QA) process at ResCare Incorporation. The researchers determined that statistically significant time can be saved by implementing time management and Total Quality Management (TQM) tools in the QA process. The research showed that ResCare needs to have a proper strategy for the implementation of time management and establish a steering committee to guide the QA improvement project.
Finally, various proactive and reactive recommendations are made for the steering committee to use as a framework for investigation of how the QA audits could be improved at ResCare Incorporation in the future.
