Abstract
The concept of "control" has been widely studied and researched for many years. This phenomenological study was a very open-ended study, allowing each of the two participants to describe any time they felt a loss of control. The sample was a convenient sample, one male and one female, both middle-aged professionals. Two very different experiences were described; one's acute loss of control and one's ongoing chronic loss of control. The final psychological analysis resulted in very similar, almost identical underlying themes which allowed this feeling of loss of control to occur for each of them.
