dc.description.abstract | The study was provided to shed light on the experience of hypnosis in a phenomenological way. Because there is so much ambiguity around hypnosis, the study was done to understand what we do no know. It was also done to show how and why hypnosis works from a phenomenological way. The study was done with two male golfers by asking them to provide written material on their experience of hypnosis including what they felt before, during and after being hypnotized. They also provided information of the effect hypnosis had on their golf game and their daily life. The results were that hypnosis works by allowing the body to relax which leaves access to the mind. This allows the client to be internally aware of his self. From here a change or shift has the potential to take place. The access to the mind provides symbolic representation leading to a condition. Having awareness about the condition lets one have the. choice to change the representation to a more favorable one. Finally, this has affect on both the body and the mind, which affects behavior. Both clients have been able to transfer the positive affects to the golf course and their life by utilizing this state of awareness and active imagination. | |
