Abstract

This thesis proposes that true engagement with the creative process leads into the deep unconscious and thus to personal healing. The path to healing involves getting in touch with the feminine aspects of self. This thesis is supported by the narration of a personal story in which creativity catalyzes the emergence of feminine consciousness. The body of this study chronicles the evolution of personal symbols as content for a ritualdance performance, through the stages of Conception, Gestation, and Delivery. These experiences are organized in terms of the "heroine's journey": the Mother/Daughter split, the return to the Feminine, the integration of the Feminine and the Masculine in the Sacred Marriage and the birth of the Divine Child.
