Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a focused or thematic docent-led tour for school groups. This tour is designed to be held at the Bay Area Discovery Museum to school groups ranging in age from four to twelve. The focused tour provides for active student involvement through a structured set of learning activities at the museum. The Museum has two main exhibition halls, Architecture and Design and San Francisco Bay. The tour focuses on habitats: people's and animals' homes. The Habitat theme was chosen because it correlates to the California State Education Frameworks, and it is also a theme that makes a strong connection between the San Francisco Bay and Architecture and Design exhibition halls.
