Abstract
In the following "verses" of Phoenix Songs, I discuss my artwork as it helped me to navigate through various stages of transformation: the deaths of loved ones, the challenging and liberating tasks of releasing a former lifetime into which I had been born, and co-creating a new life of love from the inside out. In other words, I explore my artwork's relationship to death, purging, and rebirth and the significance of each of those phases as a part of life and growth. For visualizing the scope of this transformation, an illustration of the "heroine's journey" is helpful.
