dc.description.abstractThe ways families engage with student learning vary, from volunteer opportunities, to fundraising, to home-based learning opportunities. Studies showed that take home learning can facilitate family involvement. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of take-home activity kits on parent/guardian engagement with their kindergarteners' math curriculum and on their perceptions of how math is taught as compared to student perceptions. This researcher found, through survey assessment and return tallies, that take-home learning kits given to a kindergarten classroom had diminished returns. Although families and students rated their engagement as high, diminishing survey returns demonstrated a lack of buy-in to the intervention and a lack of success in engaging families of this study group with this intervention.
