The purpose of this research is to investigate the experience of Iranian immigrant families with the Intensive Family Preservation program (IFP) in the North Shore. This study will specifically focus on the opinions and reflections of Farsi-speaking immigrant families who were referred to the Ministry of Child and Family Development–Child Protection Unit for suspected child abuse. IFP programs were designed and developed in North America to assist families, yet little is known about their impact, especially on families who are relatively new immigrants from collectivist and non-English speaking cultures. This study will use qualitative methods. The primary researcher has worked extensively in human service communities in Canada and in Iran, and, being fluent in both English and Farsi, is thus able to provide an informed and responsive interview environment for this qualitative inquiry.
