Abstract
First responders are often exposed to violent crimes, accident scenes, and stressful situations. They have to quickly evaluate, analyze, and synthesize material from many different traumatic scenes; which include being exposed to violent, horrifying, and graphic evidence and mutilated victims. The intensity and repeated exposure to such crimes can create psychological dysfunction, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue, which often debilitate and drain first responders physically and mentally.
