Abstract
People who suffer loss, whether from the loss of a loved one to death, the loss of a relationship, the loss of a beloved pet, the loss of good health, the loss of a job and/or economical status, and other such losses suffer the experience of grief for that loss.
These individuals will be affected in their bereavement experience by their attachment style, whether it be secure, anxious-ambivalent, or avoidant attachment style.
It is my goal in this study to explore their attachment styles and to be able to conclude how their attachment styles have affected their bereavement process, and to share this knowledge with others in the field of psychology and other interested parties who will benefit from my study.
In my study I will focus on the attachment styles of those who have suffered the loss of loved ones. I will also explore how attachment style can lead to Prolonged Grief Disorder. And my study will also explore how bereaved persons can overcome bereavement by attaining traumatic growth and some components of transformation and growth.
