Abstract
Young women in college are subject to various forms of victimization. This study sought to explain the occurrence of stalking on university campuses as it applies to undergraduate female students. Through a qualitative analysis, the results merit the attention of higher education administrators to not only educate students and faculty on stalking behaviors, but to take steps to prevent the occurrence of pursuit behavior all together.
Furthermore, the data presented in this study substantiates a need for victim services on college campuses. Undergraduates who have experienced the act of stalking are effected psychologically. It is necessary to take steps to lessen the negative impact stalking has during this transitional period of a young student’s life.
