Abstract

This paper examines the limitations of existing stress management modalities and proposes a new stress transformation method entitled The Safety Code. The Safety Code looks at distress as an internal experience of resistance generated by one's lack of safety. More specifically, the constant interaction between ego and implicit memory forms one's identity through relationship, and the lack of safety the identity experiences through the defense mechanism triggers the autonomic nervous system to generate stress. The Safety Code insists that in order to transform stress from within, one needs to develop the capacity to tap into internal-felt sensation and autopoietic sense by focusing on the internal experience and the external relationships S simultaneously. The Autopoietic Embodiment practice, which is the application of The Safety Code, invites us to turn inward and to unfold the root of our protection to transform stress and to realize who we essentially are,
