Abstract

The intent of this research is to determine a sequential processing methodology for fingerprints in blood on a dark surface using cyanoacrylate and nanoparticle titanium dioxide in suspension. The methodology for this research will be to deposit fingerprints in raw blood as well as eccrine sweat on 20 non-textured dark colored knife handles. The knife handles will then be exposed to cyanoacrylate vapor in a vapor chamber. All fingerprints will then be scored for clarity of ridge detail. The knife handles will then be exposed to nanoparticle titanium dioxide in solution for varying durations. All fingerprints will then be scored again for clarity of ridge detail. Any change in the ridge clarity scores will be examined for statistical significance.
