Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to address the question: "What is the role of the school counsellor in school district 61?" In an attempt to answer this question we have focused our research addressing three questions regarding the role of school counselling: 1.) "What is the current experience of working as a school counsellor in the Victoria district?" 2.) "What promotes and diminishes job satisfaction?" 3.) "What do successful school counselling programs contain?" In doing this the goal is to provide a document that clearly addresses the needs of counsellors in SD 61 and most importantly the students they serve.
