Abstract

The Policy Administration System (PAS) presently in use by many companies are typically “legacy” systems. Maintenance, modification, and even basic utilization of these systems have become complex and costly. Organizations require an effective PAS. This is an infrastructure that allows an organization to comprehensibly track the business interactions of its customers/clients. The research conducted will demonstrate the benefits in converting a legacy PAS over to a modern day PAS. A few of these benefits include reduced operating costs, reduced training costs, and increased product speed-to-market. Additionally, research findings have identified a high-level PAS design they may be used as a starting point for companies who desire to implement such a system. A separate middleware subsystem was also recommended to allow business’s to leverage system data for reporting. A Project Plan, Schedule, and Risk Assessment was developed to demonstrate the work effort necessary to implement a modern day PAS. Based on these findings, our conclusion would be for any company with the means, to convert their legacy systems to a modern day PAS.
