Abstract
The purpose of the following study is to recognize and contrast thematic differences in self-talk among athletes competing in individual sports and athletes competing in team sports. There are many factors that contribute to the success of an athlete in sport. Both mental and physical attributes are combined in this complex equation. The intent of this study is to delve further into the mental aspects involved, particularly self-talk, in enhancing performance. This study looks at thematic differences in the thought patterns of athletes competing in individual sports as opposed to athletes competing in team sports. It should be noted that this study focuses on differences in thoughts and nothing beyond. The goal is to notice and compare, not to create a hypothesis on one side or the other.
