Abstract

A fifteen-day experimental pilot was conducted in which four pea, four tenderbean and four Blue Lake pole bean seeds were planted in order to determine which plants grew fastest. Simultaneously, four each of the same seeds were sprouted for 48 hours and then planted, again to determine both survival and speed of growth. All the plants in the sprouted condition grew, which was not the case for those seeds planted in soil. By the tenth day there was a prodigious amount of growth produced. For this reason, it was decided to shorten Experiment 1 from 15 to 10 days.
