Abstract
Small and/or volunteer-run historical museums may have united resources such as personnel, information, and money which they can use to operate. Because of these united resources, the museum may not be able to fulfill its functions and may fail to adequately care for its collections. Although, a lack of resources does not necessarily mean that a museum is doing a bad job, its personnel may not be fully aware of their obligations and how to fulfill them. This project will demonstrate the need for small historical museums to develop a collections management policy and will provide guidelines for completing one.
