Abstract

The purpose of this study is twofold: a cultural introduction and a catalogue section. The cultural introduction will provide the physical and cultural setting, and demonstrate the importance and long tradition of textile production, and why it flourished over a period of more than 2000 years. Although most of the selected pieces are fragments, the discussion will include the clothing tradition and the most common of the looms, the backstrap, as well as weaving technology.
